John Myers

From Tilt:
Friends,
It's once again my sad, sad duty to announce the death of another SOG recon man, Tony Herrell last night in Mich. His daughter told me that Tony didn't feel good, drove himself to the hospital, parked and died behind the wheel of his Ford pickup.
Tony went through SFTG with Spider, Rick, Rick Howard, Ron Owens at A Company. He was our first baseman on A Com. softball team.
After some time as FOB 3, he came down to FOB 1 he was on ST Louisiana originally with John MacIntyre, then with Pete Boggs. At the end July 1968, S-3 asked Tony if he wanted to work in the comm center, an assignment where he excelled.
It's too early for any funeral announcements. Tony's daughter Devon said they will attempt to have Tony buried at Arlington Nat'l. Cemetery.
She and her brother Chris, are planning on attending SOAR.
I spoke with Tony's sister Jessie Grant - Her e-mail is in the cc box, and she expressed how much our friendship meant to Tony.
Thus, we add Tony's name to the long list of SOG Recon men who've left us too early in life: Doug LeTourneau, Eldon Bargewell, Sully deFontaine, Pete Buscetto, and our SOA RIder Director Tom Carrell. Rick Howard lost his beloved Barbara earlier this year.
Respectfully submitted,
